My research focuses on migrant agricultural labor in the context of U.S. expansion. My dissertation, "Mobilizing Empire: Race, Sugar, and U.S. Colonialism across the Pacific, 1898-1934," studies the making of imperial subjects in and through the movements of labor and capital in the U.S.
Linh Thuy Nguyễn specializes in Asian American and Southeast Asian American cultural studies, immigration and refugee studies and US militarism and race. She completed her PhD at the University of California, San Diego in the Department of Ethnic Studies.
Sonia De La Cruz is an Assistant Professor in Communication and Media Production at the University of Washington, Tacoma. Her scholarship centers on media for social justice, international and development communication, and critical media practice.
