Sonia De La Cruz is an Assistant Professor in Communication and Media Production at the University of Washington, Tacoma. Her scholarship centers on media for social justice, international and development communication, and critical media practice. Her research focuses on examining issues connected to social justice and media practice in traditionally marginalized communities, such as US Latinx and Latin American communities, including indigenous peoples of the Americas, as well as the experiences of BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee communities. De La Cruz is also a documentary and activist media maker who has produced social-cultural and ethnographic documentaries on various human rights issues.
