The aim of this research group is to examine human textile history diachronically and transculturally. Our holistic study of textiles includes not only textile production tools and techniques, but also the cultural and theoretical implications of textile crafts and objects, studies in aesthetics, adornment, and materiality, gendered labor, linguistic and literary poetics, investigations of resources and trade, and the religious significance of fabrics.
