Genomics Salon

Year of Funding:
2020/2021

The UW Genomics Salon hosts discussions on subjects of general intellectual interest related to the field of genomics and, more broadly, modern biology. We provide an informal forum to discuss high-level, interdisciplinary issues that typically fall outside traditional scientific training but nevertheless have strong social relevance. Our discussion have tackled a variety of topics; this past years' included the ethical implications of gene editing in humans, the complicated sociopolitical landscape of government-regulated genomic testing of migrants and refugees, and the interaction between genomics and music.
