Shelby House is a doctoral student in the Sociocultural Anthropology program and a Graduate Fellow at the UW Center for Environmental Politics. A queer, disabled woman of Muscogee (Creek) descent, Shelby grew up in the swamps of southeast Georgia, and she now lives as a guest on the occupied homelands of Coast Salish peoples.

When she's not at the zoo, Shelby enjoys watching reality television, teaching Urdu, seeing movies at the SIFF, dreaming about the downfall of capitalism, and spending time with her partner and their small dog, Maggie.
