Passages – Tracing Routes to the Future: A Symposium of Northwest Native Art

Passages – Tracing Routes to the Future is a symposium on Northwest Native art that will feature the work and perspectives of leading scholars and Native American/First Nations artists. Together they will discuss trends and recent research on the distinctive art traditions of our region and think through current trajectories in our field both tracing their origins and looking to future potentials. This gathering will also mark the legacy of Bill Holm (1925-2020), former curator at the Burke Museum and professor emeritus of art history at UW, whose scholarship helped bring Northwest Coast Native art to a broad audience.
