Cultural Analytics Praxis

Cultural Analytics (CA) has recently emerged as a multidisciplinary field focused on the use of data-driven and computational methods to study contemporary and historical cultural materials. This project supports the Cultural Analytics Research and Teaching Initiative (CARTi), a network of early career scholars who aim to promote the sustainability of CA research and provide new models for scholarship in the field. For 2025-2026, we will host a public-facing CA colloquium on UW’s Seattle campus, where core members of CARTi will discuss current, data-driven research projects focused on contemporary and historical cultural artifacts. We will also support a writing retreat at UW’s Whiteley Center.
