Sarah Brucia Breitenfeld is a social historian of ancient Greece and Rome, investigating the stories of women, children, immigrants and enslaved people. Their current project, which focuses on violence against enslaved women in classical Athens, is part of their broader commitment to reexamining personal narratives that have been overlooked in ancient sources and modern scholarship. They are also a dedicated teacher and the recipient of the 2021 Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Washington.
