Matthew Childs is a doctoral candidate in the Department of German Studies. He joined the department in 2015 after receiving his M.A. in German and B.A. in German and Classical Civilizations at Florida State University.

Matthew is interested in a wide range of topics but focuses on the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in Germany and Western Europe. He considers this period to be worthy in and of itself of study but believes it also to be an integral part of understanding contemporary issues.
