After a previous career in communications, Jim Jewell has been English faculty at North Seattle College since 2012. He believes strongly in the power of mentorship, working as a Simpson Center mentor for several years and developing a campus internship project at NSC. Jewell is a champion of interdisciplinary study and the performing arts, with projects ranging from Bard’s Day, a campus-wide celebration of Shakespeare, to #UseYourWords, a regular storytelling program. He serves as faculty advisor for the campus literary publication Licton Springs Review and faculty coordinator of the Experiential & Performative Instructional Center (E.P.I.C.).
