Herman is a PhD candidate in mathematics. He studies algebraic combinatorics with a focus on understanding the higher Bruhat orders of the symmetric group. He also studies applied machine learning with an emphasis on datasets from both mathematics and classical Japanese. Prior to starting his PhD, Herman worked at Meta as a software engineer for 3 years.
