Eric Johnson is a historian of the Russian Empire, Central Asia, and the Islamic World, with a focus on the 18th and 19th centuries, and a particular interest in the fields of Digital History and Urban History. 

At the Simpson Center, Eric is the lead for Digital Humanities work, facilitating the Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship program, and consulting on digital humanities projects at any stage in their development. 

In addition, he works as a Digital History Specialist and Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of History, supporting innovative approaches to historical research, while also teaching classes in the department.
