Ashfaq Ahmed is a research scholar in the Jackson School of International Studies. He completed his Master of Philosophy from Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B), India and his Masters degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. He has presented his work at international conferences such as Interpretive Policy Analysis Conference. He is working on his forthcoming book, Open Camp as a Biopolitical Paradigm: A Case of Kashmir.

Ahmed is a recipient of the 2026 Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship for the project, "Petrified Wedding of the Himalayas: A Digital Archaeological Preservation Project of Ghora Gali Gool in Indian Occupied Kashmir." In this work, he will digitally document Ghora Gali, an archaeological site in the Himalayan mountains of Indian Occupied Kashmir featuring around 200 stone sculptures. Despite its historical and cultural significance, Ghora Gali remains largely unrecorded and at risk of erasure. Using photography, videography, GPS geotagging, and 3D modeling, he will create an online archive that will preserve Ghora Gali's material history and local folklore, making it accessible to scholars and the public.
