Amna Farooqi is a PhD Candidate in the School of Drama at the University of Washington. Her research engages a critical study of the effects of exposure in theatre: particularly, in relation to twenty-first-century minoritarian performance. This study of exposure interrogates immersive performances invoking race, refugees, and U.S. empire. Farooqi has worked professionally in major talent agencies and off-Broadway theatre companies including: William Morris Endeavor, Creative Artists Agency, and New York Theatre Workshop. She holds an MA in Performance Studies from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts as well as a BA from NYU’s Gallatin School.
