Amelia Lehosit is a doctoral candidate in the department of English at the University of Washington where she studies Old English literature. Her research looks at affect and emotion in Old English lyric poetry, specifically how certain lyrics bring forth consolation in their audience. Additionally, she is interested in pedagogical approaches to reading medieval literature in the classroom which includes studying translation theory in relation to premodern texts. She received her MA in English and Textual Studies and Digital Humanities certificate from the University of Washington.

As a Digital Humanities Summer Fellow, Lehosit will work on Mearcstapa Translations. Mearcstapa Translations encourages the development of translation theory scholarship in premodern humanities fields by surveying, studying, and promoting translations of classical, medieval, and pre-modern texts. The Mearcstapa website functions as a digital research tool and teaching aid by comparing passages of premodern text translations and providing supplemental editorial comments that highlight decisions made by the translator.
