With support from the Mellon Foundation and Social Science Research Council (SSRC), this microseminar is a workshop in the art of writing proposals to fund international dissertation research. Taught by faculty members who have served on the SSRC selection committee, this seminar is open to all UW PhD students in the humanities and social sciences, with priority given to students who plan on submitting an application to the SSRC’s International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF) due on Nov. 2, 2021. IDRF understands “international” as including dissertation topics beyond the US and/or related to Indigenous peoples. Seminar activities will include conversations with the IDRF director, past recipients of IDRF, and workshopping of all the components of a full IDRF application.
**10/1 and 10/8 are open to interested UW Graduate Students who are not enrolling in the course or not applying for the Fellowship this year. There will be an option for those students to join these two sessions virtual in a webinar (view-only) Zoom format.
