My World Cup: A Transnational Youth Media Project

My World Cup: A Transnational
Youth Media Project

Year of Funding:

In Spring 2010, UW faculty, staff, and graduate students collaborated with 911 Seattle Media Arts Center in designing and piloting a community media training curriculum. The training prepared UW students traveling to South Africa to work with South African youth to produce short videos regarding their nation’s hosting of the World Cup. By collaborating on curriculum development, the project developed capacity and shared knowledge practices between both community- and university-based initiatives in digital media and public scholarship. Collaborators identified and developed initial promising practices surrounding training for transnational community-based media projects which can be implemented as part of the larger My World Cup project.
