Memorial Service & Reception for Herbert Blau

A memorial service for Herbert Blau will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 4:00 pm in Kane Hall 210 at the University of Washington. A reception will follow. For additional information, including parking and lodging, please see the memorial event page.

Blau was Byron W. and Alice L. Lockwood Professor Emeritus of the Humanities and Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature. He was very much a presence at the Simpson Center and was active in many of our events, both as presenter and participant. For our Fall 2004 Katz Lecture, Herb shared part of his autobiography, As If. His talk is available here as a podcast for those who would like to hear him reflect on his life in his own words.

More information can be found on the New York Times and Seattle Times websites. We would also like to take this opportunity to recirculate this 2011 interview with Herb from the UW College of Arts & Sciences newsletter Perspectives.
